Finding a comfortable balance between parenting, being a wife and building a business can be a juggling act at times. It takes sacrifice, resolve and lots of love, something moms are naturally good at. But, how do they do it?
There are plenty of mothers who have made a huge contribution to PURE as Independent Business Owners, all while raising a family. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we asked them how they shuffle family life with building their PURE business. Let their words inspire you and touch your heart this Mother’s Day.
Betty Blackhurst, Presidential
“PURE offers an opportunity to help moms create a legacy for their families, and it’s a great platform to help pay for college. Thanks to my mother, I was taught to be respectful, to treat people equally no matter what their background, to love people with all your heart and always have integrity. People don’t care how much you know, they care about how much you care!”
Mallory Meredith, Platinum Director
“My mother was a wonderful woman. She passed when I was 6, but I am told that I am 100% her! What a wonderful gift to give your children … the best parts of yourself! With PURE, I can spend more time with my daughter because of the freedom the business gives me.”
Joni Michaels, Blue Diamond
“Having owned my business for 32 years, the best advice I can give to the mom who is looking to start her own business is to find balance. For those of us who are business owners, parents and wives, balance is always the key to success in all three areas. I learned early on that balance takes prioritizing, that means saying yes to the things that add value and no to what doesn’t. By doing this, I have always felt “present”, whether inside my business, beside my husband or with my children.”
Melanie Petz, Blue Diamond
“Always remember your ‘Why’. Mine is my family. When things get tough, remember the precious blessings you’re leaving for them. My amazing mom is a two-time survivor of breast cancer and open-heart surgery. She is my hero and taught me how important it is to take care of your body. She also always made time to watch our children during conferences or when we traveled with PURE.”
Jenn Powell, Ruby Executive
“Some of the best advice my mom gave me is to never doubt myself. She would always say to never tell yourself no, but rather to let others tell you no. She also taught me to fall in love with taking care of yourself and to raise your children to do the same.”
Magen Rivers, Diamond
“You can do it! Take it one day at a time, or one hour at a time, but take action. Your family is counting on you! When I decided to treat my business like a business, it started paying me like a business. That meant I had to set priorities. Let’s face it, as a mom there’s always something to do. My mom gave me an incredible piece of advice. She said, ‘If I put a thousand stones in your front yard and told you that under one of them was a key that opened a box that held a million dollars, how many stones would you turn to find that key?’ So even though I received “no’s” those first few days, I kept going and eventually became successful!”
Karidon Roundy, Sapphire Executive
“Sharing my journey with others is what has helped me build my business and make a financial change for me and my family. I am thankful every day for PURE and for the opportunity to be home with my kids and still help the family out financially.”
Thressa Stehr, Emerald Director
“Moms, enjoy the journey. You will not experience overnight success, but it allows you and your family time and freedom. You can work this business from anywhere. Weave it into your day-to-day routine with the kids and share it with everyone you meet because what you have your hands on is a gift! Growing up I learned what not to do. Life is not easy and you have to be willing to go after what you want.”
Marla Watson, Ruby Director
“Moms, remember that your kids are watching everything you do. They admire your willingness to get uncomfortable and they love watching you succeed. They also see how you handle the no’s, and are learning to never quit! Always be present when your kids are around and include them in your business. My mom always taught me that you are what you eat! We grew up eating lots of fresh veggies that were grown in our garden, so I learned from an early age that eating plants was a key to health!”
Good advice, right? We want to thank all our mom’preneurs here at PURE. Each and every one of you is truly an inspiration.
Have a very Healthy and Happy Mother’s Day.
