It’s Shark Week!

Da-Dum…Da-Dum…Da-Dum-Da-Dum-Da-Dum! It’s Shark Week!

Does the mention of sharks send shivers down your spine, or does it send you fishing for information about these incredible creatures? The latter, we hope. The things you can learn from sharks can be invaluable to the success of your PURE business.

Some sharks work in teams, others have great vision, they are all agile, goal oriented, and they are very curious — characteristics of all great industry leaders. An ocean without sharks is a scary place, just as a business without leaders can be frightening. Without sharks, our lives would change, perhaps drastically. For instance, seafood delicacies like scallops would become extinct as sharks eat their predators. Also, sharks have highly developed immune systems, which may lead to preventative treatments for human diseases.

Each day this week, we’re going to dive into the characteristics of sharks and what we can learn from them. Our fincredible lineup starts with the distinctive Hammerhead.

The Hammerhead shark is privy to teamwork! It enjoys traveling in schools, often having up to 500 members! Each group has a social structure that determines dominance according to size, age and sex. Staying in groups may help protect them against larger predators and it increases their chances of finding food.1 These sharks have a connection, so to speak, and they trust each other. The proof is in their numbers.

Teamwork is the most vital skill in any industry. In the July PURE newsletter, Daren Hogge, PURE CEO, shared how success cannot be achieved alone (one is a lonely number). We all have a team behind us, cheering us on. Teamwork really does make the dream work. It promotes a sense of achievement and motivation. It maximizes everyone’s strengths and is complimented by the strengths of others.

The Hammerhead surrounds itself with proficiency, and so should you. Together, the team contributes to the whole. Teams embrace a common vision and common goals. As John C. Maxwell said, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success.”

Teamwork is second nature to the Hammerhead, it should be natural to us, too.

Get to know your customers

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could read minds? This may be more desirable in certain circumstances. I think if we could  read our customers’ minds, it would open a lot of doors. Imagine knowing right off the bat what motivates someone and how they prefer to be talked to.

As an IBO at PURE, customers are the lifeblood of your business. Getting to know them inside and out is imperative to your success. Understanding what’s important to them and how they make decisions can mean the difference between a sale and a fail.

Today is Get to Know Your Customers Day. I challenge you to reach out and get to know your customers better, even meet some new ones! Treat them to coffee or invite them over to your house, just because. Make them King or Queen for the day and give them your utmost attention. Most importantly, listen and learn from them.

Really get to know them:

Create customer personas. Start a spreadsheet that outlines demographic information, education, professional status and hobbies and interests. Note what excites them and what would make them turn away. This list will give you a snapshot of your customer — a profile, if you will. With this information, you can better choose the products and tools you’ll introduce to them as well as discover ways of communicating that will capture their attention.

Leverage social media. If you have a PURE business, you must use Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter if you want to stay connected with your customers. It’s where the action is! Here you can learn what they like and dislike, what their habits are and what they are buying. Interact with customers from all over the world.

Be proactive. Go to them first; don’t wait for them to come to you. And never assume anything. Your customer’s goals will evolve, as well as their reasons for taking the products or building a business. Never lose sight of their intentions. You can only do this by staying connected.

Ask the right questions. Learn what problems they have that need to be solved so you can appropriately align the products to their needs. Gain their trust so they’ll confide in you to help solve their problems. What are their top three health priorities? Find out what they’ve done in the past to try to fix their problems. What do they need in their life to feel like they’re really moving forward? Equally important is finding out what they don’t want. Tell them that their answers to your questions will help you better serve their needs, so they can take their own business, and health, to the next level.

If they are a product user, you could ask, “What challenging thing are you working through these days?” or “What lifestyle change have you been meaning to make for a while now?”

If they want to build a business, ask them, “What one thing do you really want but can’t afford?” or “What would be the most amazing adventure to go on if you could?” Think about your answers to these questions, too, and share them! You might find you have a lot in common.

Host an event. Are you a business builder? You might want to host an event in your community where you can invite a targeted list of customers to introduce to your business. This is a great forum in which to interact.

You simply can’t move forward without getting to know your customers. Try some of the above methods. You’ll be better able to understand their needs, you’ll broaden your reach and you’ll experience amazing success. You’ll make awesome relationships, too!

Happy #GetToKnowYourCustomersDay!

Just like Betsy – a pioneering entrepreneur

Today we celebrate Flag Day — a time to remember the adoption of our nation’s flag, and the foundation of our nation’s freedom.

I proudly display the American flag at our front door (always positioned to the left) and every time I look at it I feel a sense of pride. I’m reminded of the giving spirit of our citizens and the privileges and opportunities we have in this country. The American flag is our country’s brand, so to speak. It symbolizes America — the greatest country in the world.

If you grew up in America, you probably learned about a woman named Betsy (Griscom) Ross. What a fine example she was of the entrepreneurial spirit! Betsy was born in 1752 in Philadelphia and was raised in a family of carpenters. She learned needlework at home and in school. She married John Ross and together they opened an upholstery business in New Jersey in 1773, with flags being one of their specialties.

After the Revolutionary War started, the business faced challenges as fabrics were difficult to come by. In 1776, John Ross died leaving Betsy to keep the business running. Through her network, she met George Washington who was impressed with her skills. Legend has it that he asked her to design and sew a flag for the new nation.

Betsy was a mother, a businesswoman, the foundation of her household and, as I see it, a true entrepreneur. She had courage and determination to keep the business running when everything else around her was falling apart. Can you imagine what life must have been like for her? And yet she persevered despite the challenges. She symbolizes commitment, much like our Independent Business Owners (IBOs) at PURE today. Just like Betsy, our IBOs continue to give hope to those who want a better life and an opportunity to strive for greatness.

Today may not be a national holiday, but it’s a very significant day nevertheless. May the American flag, and Betsy Ross, be reminders of that great entrepreneurial spirit as we spread Whole Health across the nation.

Here is a reminder on how to honor and display the American flag from the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). As you proudly fly your flag today, pledge your support for those who have sacrificed for our freedom by visiting https://livepure.com/giveback/.

Faces of fitness

Meet PURE IBOs Matt and Mallory Meredith. This athletic couple are on the move participating in community cycling and running events and building their PURE business.

Matt works full time and competes in multiple races a year, while Mallory also races, coaches cross country and track and field and works at a local running store. Eating healthy is important to them as is the spiritual, mental and physical health of their family.

Matt ran the Dallas marathon in December 2017, finishing 3:05:05. While being so close to qualifying for the Boston Marathon he went ahead and ran the New Orleans marathon in March of 2018, finishing 3:05:45, missing the mark again. He felt like he was lacking energy. Along with a couple of other red flags, he decided to get micronutrient blood testing done which showed major nutrient deficiencies. Being a healthy eater, this was very disconcerting. His goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon, but with these numbers, he wasn’t sure he ever would. To qualify, athletes must meet time standards which correspond to age and gender.

Enter PURE! When Matt makes up his mind to do something, he’s all in and it was no different when he joined PURE.

IBOs Whitney and Jason Johns shared the opportunity to the Meredith’s in July 2018.  After taking the products, Matt started achieving new personal records in his races. He ran the Houston marathon in January this year, finishing 2:54:51, a 10:14 decrease in his personal best. What’s even more spectacular is that he qualified for the Boston Marathon which he will run with Mallory in April 2020. He attributes his success to products by PURE. Following the Houston marathon, a six-month follow up micronutrient blood test showed zero deficiencies. Now Matt is not only chasing his dreams, he is running them down!

Matt and Mallory also enjoy helping others realize the importance of exercise and making healthy choices. Matt’s advice for someone thinking about joining PURE is to, “Go all in! Flood your body with the products, feel the difference it makes and then set a goal and continue to share no matter what. Steady, consistent action and inviting people to learn about health is what will continue to grow the business.”

The Meredith’s have reached the rank of Platinum Director. They are both driven to sign others up and help them achieve their dreams, and they are grateful for the wonderful people they have met through PURE.

Asked if he could have any super power, Matt said he would like to be Superman® so he could help others during critical times. It sounds like he already has all the superpowers!

Matt works his PURE business part-time and continues to provide for his family through his full-time job. Mallory is working on making PURE a full-time job. Their favorite products are GoYin, ENERGY and the GPS line. Their daughter loves GoYin, Daily Build and CalciuMK+. They live in Tyler, Texas.

Superman is a registered trademark of DC Comics.

Meet IBO Karidon Roundy

After staying home for two years after the birth of her first child, Karidon was ready for a change. She was looking for an opportunity that would not only benefit her health but her financial situation as well.

Friends introduced her to products by PURE and she joined the company in November 2017. She has since reached the rank of Sapphire.

“As a stay-at-home mom, I was feeling stuck in where I was at in life. I realized that something needed to change. I started taking products by PURE and experienced changes in my body, my mental state and my overall health. Sharing my journey with others is what has helped me build my business and make a financial change for me and my family. I am thankful every day for PURE and the opportunity to be home with my kids and still help the family out financially.”

Karidon’s favorite products are ENERGY, the GPS Sports Performance line, Mila and all the Superfruits. She enjoys mixing Mila in shakes, applesauce, muffins, yogurt and pancake mix. Her family’s favorite recipe is Mila pudding, made by combining Mila with chocolate almond milk and letting it sit to thicken to a pudding. She also loves mixing GPS Hydrate with ENERGY. Her favorite flavor combination is watermelon and fruit punch.

Karidon’s advice for anyone seeking the PURE opportunity, “Really dive into other people’s success stories while you’re building your own. It shows you what’s possible and how others are benefitting from the products and changing their lives. It’s inspiring!”

Karidon and her family live in Lyman, Wyoming.

Mom’preneurs share words of wisdom

Finding a comfortable balance between parenting, being a wife and building a business can be a juggling act at times. It takes sacrifice, resolve and lots of love, something moms are naturally good at. But, how do they do it?

There are plenty of mothers who have made a huge contribution to PURE as Independent Business Owners, all while raising a family. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we asked them how they shuffle family life with building their PURE business. Let their words inspire you and touch your heart this Mother’s Day.

Betty Blackhurst, Presidential

“PURE offers an opportunity to help moms create a legacy for their families, and it’s a great platform to help pay for college. Thanks to my mother, I was taught to be respectful, to treat people equally no matter what their background, to love people with all your heart and always have integrity. People don’t care how much you know, they care about how much you care!”

Mallory Meredith, Platinum Director

“My mother was a wonderful woman. She passed when I was 6, but I am told that I am 100% her! What a wonderful gift to give your children … the best parts of yourself! With PURE, I can spend more time with my daughter because of the freedom the business gives me.”

Joni Michaels, Blue Diamond

“Having owned my business for 32 years, the best advice I can give to the mom who is looking to start her own business is to find balance. For those of us who are business owners, parents and wives, balance is always the key to success in all three areas. I learned early on that balance takes prioritizing, that means saying yes to the things that add value and no to what doesn’t. By doing this, I have always felt “present”, whether inside my business, beside my husband or with my children.”

Melanie Petz, Blue Diamond

“Always remember your ‘Why’. Mine is my family. When things get tough, remember the precious blessings you’re leaving for them. My amazing mom is a two-time survivor of breast cancer and open-heart surgery. She is my hero and taught me how important it is to take care of your body. She also always made time to watch our children during conferences or when we traveled with PURE.”

Jenn Powell, Ruby Executive

“Some of the best advice my mom gave me is to never doubt myself. She would always say to never tell yourself no, but rather to let others tell you no. She also taught me to fall in love with taking care of yourself and to raise your children to do the same.”

Magen Rivers, Diamond

“You can do it! Take it one day at a time, or one hour at a time, but take action. Your family is counting on you! When I decided to treat my business like a business, it started paying me like a business. That meant I had to set priorities. Let’s face it, as a mom there’s always something to do. My mom gave me an incredible piece of advice. She said, ‘If I put a thousand stones in your front yard and told you that under one of them was a key that opened a box that held a million dollars, how many stones would you turn to find that key?’ So even though I received “no’s” those first few days, I kept going and eventually became successful!”

Karidon Roundy, Sapphire Executive

“Sharing my journey with others is what has helped me build my business and make a financial change for me and my family. I am thankful every day for PURE and for the opportunity to be home with my kids and still help the family out financially.”

Thressa Stehr, Emerald Director

“Moms, enjoy the journey. You will not experience overnight success, but it allows you and your family time and freedom. You can work this business from anywhere. Weave it into your day-to-day routine with the kids and share it with everyone you meet because what you have your hands on is a gift! Growing up I learned what not to do. Life is not easy and you have to be willing to go after what you want.”

Marla Watson, Ruby Director

“Moms, remember that your kids are watching everything you do. They admire your willingness to get uncomfortable and they love watching you succeed. They also see how you handle the no’s, and are learning to never quit!  Always be present when your kids are around and include them in your business. My mom always taught me that you are what you eat!  We grew up eating lots of fresh veggies that were grown in our garden, so I learned from an early age that eating plants was a key to health!”

Good advice, right? We want to thank all our mom’preneurs here at PURE. Each and every one of you is truly an inspiration.

Have a very Healthy and Happy Mother’s Day.

Meet IBOs Steve and Joni Michael

Before joining PURE in 2010, Steve was coaching high school football and he and and Joni were also self-employed business owners. They were raising four children and enjoying a healthy lifestyle. Life was good, except for the precious time they were losing while building their companies rather than spending it with their family.

When IBO Jared Burnett introduced the Michaels to PURE CEO Daren Hogge, they knew right away that PURE was on an entirely different trajectory than any other company in the industry. They sensed it in PURE’s dynamic leadership and in the systems the company had in place to help people physically and financially achieve success.

“We knew that starting a PURE business would also take time, and that we were going to have to work hard. We were already short on time in our lives, so we figured we had nothing to lose,” said Joni. “We saw the success others were having with PURE and believed that if we just put our heads down and focused, we could be just as successful and ultimately put ourselves in the driver’s seat to create the time in our lives that we desperately wanted.”

Becoming part of PURE was an easy business decision for them.

Today, Steve and Joni have reached the prestigious rank of Blue Diamond. Now that their kids have grown, they’ve switched their purpose in life to giving back to others. They believe that real leadership begins when you take the blessings you have been given and share them with others.

“Every day is a blessing. We thank God daily that we have a place here on earth and opportunities before us to make an impact on the lives placed in front of us,” said Steve. “We have withstood the challenges of marriage, raising a family and building businesses. To be at this point in our lives physically, financially and spiritually is a dream come true. We truly have a blessed life and one we are so thankful for.”

Joni’s favorite products are HealthTrim Liquid Cleanse, GoYin, Daily Build and GPS Energize. Steve loves the entire GPS Performance line and Organic Sulfur.  They live in Larchwood, Iowa.
