Meet Mark Kobe, PURE IBO and U.S. Army veteran

The transition from military to civilian life can be difficult, but for Mark Kobe, Independent Business Owner (IBO), the PURE products and opportunity made the transition that much easier.

Mark served in the U.S. Army from 1995-2015, stationed in New York, North Carolina and Maryland, as a Signals Intelligence professional and Spanish linguist. He received the Air Medal and other medals for deployments to Afghanistan, Africa, Bosnia and South America.

Mark is most proud of the time he served with a Special Missions Unit in Maryland. He was one of less than 1% of the total military who was accepted into this unit.

Mark stated, “I had the opportunity to take part in historic missions and work with some true heroes. The places that I got to see, the missions that I was a part of and most importantly the quality of the people that I got to work with will always stay with me as the best time in my military career.”

After retiring, he was employed under the Secretary of Defense. He discovered PURE: People United Reaching Everyone in August 2018.

PURE gave Mark and his wife a vehicle through which they could reach their financial goals and generate residual income for their future. After retiring from the military after a full 20-year career, Mark was starting from scratch at the age of 46. He wanted to add another stream of income to his pension and disability.

“PURE is providing for us, as long as I am willing to put in the time and effort.  As I struggle to understand how to be successful in this line of work, I find that I’m constantly reading books,” said Mark. “I have improved my personal relationship with Christ as I spend hours reading the Bible and have put my PURE business in his hands to support us. Daily Detox and Mila are my wife’s favorite products. My favorite is Organic Sulfur. I have full range of motion in my knees for the first time in a long time and I’m no longer taking glucosamine.”*

Mark decided to forgo his usual workout supplement regime to try PURE’s GPS line of products. After using all six products for three months, Mark noticed results, as did his friends and family whom he exercises with.

Mark stated, “The pre-workout combination of Adapt, Energize and Circulate is unlike any other pre-workout regimen that I have ever used. I don’t get the “shakes” that I would typically get with most pre-workout supplements. GPS Hydrate keeps my energy level high throughout my workout. GPS Rebuild post-workout supplement is awesome; the taste, the mixability, everything is top notch! With Reset, the cycle is complete. The energy it provides is amazing!”*

Mark is a true hero in our eyes. He is living the PURE philosophy by sharing the opportunity and the wonderful benefits of our high-quality products with others. We are blessed to have him as part of the PURE family.

Ask the Expert answers your product questions

At PURE: People United Reaching Everyone, we have an expert team that is dedicated to answering your product and nutrition questions.

Here are the most popular questions from the previous few weeks. You might find a topic related to a question you have.

Q: How many Organic Sulfur capsules are equal to one scoop of Organic Sulfur?
A: Three capsules (1 g x 3 = 3 g) equals 1 scoop of Organic Sulfur (3 g). The Recommended Use on the label suggests 3 capsules as one serving.

Q: Is it possible to eat too much Mila?
A: Mila is a high-quality, 100% natural food. One serving contains 5 grams of dietary fiber, which helps with intestinal regularity, cardiovascular health and blood sugar maintenance. Consuming too much fiber, especially if your body is not used to it, can cause gastrointestinal upset. If you experience GI upset, take less than the recommended 2 Tablespoons and build up to this amount as your body adjusts to an increased intake of fiber. Drink plenty of water when taking Mila. The recommended daily amount of fiber is 25 grams.*

Q: What is the source of the natural vanilla bean flavoring in Greens?
A: Natural vanilla originates from Madagascar, Indonesia and Mexico.  Vanilla beans are extracted, purified and made in the U.S.

Q: What are the natural flavors and colors that are used in products by PURE?
A: Natural flavors and colors are from vegetables, fruits and other natural sources such as vanilla and cacao beans.

Q: Which products by PURE contain vitamin D?
A: Daily Build has 800 IU of vitamin D3, the highest amount. CalciuMK+ has 600 IU. Immune6 and GPS Reset have 500 IU. 360 Complete Shake has 200 IU. GPS Rebuild Chocolate has 40 IU of D3.  Please check the product labels for ingredients and amounts.

Q: Which products help support circulation and blood flow?
A: Typically, Goji has been used to support circulation. GPS Circulate provides amino acids like L-arginine and L-citruline, which help promote the production of nitric oxide N.O. in the body. N.O. helps promote circulation and blood flow.*

Q: Do you use any synthetic ingredients in your “natural flavors”?
A: There are no synthetic ingredients in our natural sweeteners and natural flavors.

Q: What is glucose polymer derived from and is it something that is good for the body?
A: Glucose polymers are an important source of carbohydrates in dietary supplements. Glucose polymers are large molecules composed of many glucose molecules. They provide more energy at a given osmolarity and are absorbed at a faster rate than glucose alone. Glucose polymers also improve the consistency of beverages made from powdered mixes. Glucose polymers are responsible for the creamy texture in products like ENERGY, 360 Complete Shake and PURE Café.

Q: Are any products by PURE tested on animals?
A:  None of the products by PURE are tested on animals.

GPS performance products are Informed-Sport Certified

If you are an elite or amateur athlete, a coach, a nutritionist or anyone who faces drug testing, you can now be assured that GPS Circulate, GPS Energize, GPS Hydrate, GPS Rebuild and GPS Reset have been Informed-Sport tested and are free of banned substances.

These products have been validated to be free of banned substances through LGC, an anti-doping laboratory organization and are certified through their Informed-Sport program.

Look for the Informed-Sport Certification logo
on each individual product page on shop.livepure.com and  know you can trust that our products have the highest level of quality assurance behind them.

What is Informed-Sport Certification?

The Informed-Sport program was developed to minimize the risk of banned-substance contamination within sports supplement products. Certification involves:

  •  Completion of a Manufacturing Assessment Questionnaire
  • Pre-certification testing of an agreed number of samples
  • Post-certification testing of every batch of product
  • Additional “blind” independent testing

For more information and explanations of the testing process, visit https://www.informed-sport.com/#view_video.

What substances does Informed-Sport screen for?

Products tested for Informed-Sport certification are screened according to substances listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). WADA was founded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to curb the use of ergogenic aids, which would give athletes an unfair advantage. This list includes dozens of substances put into seven categories: androgens, peptide hormones, stimulants, diuretics, narcotics and cannabinoids.

At PURE, we pride ourselves on providing safe, effective, top-of-the-line products to support your personal health goals.

How well do your know your B6 vitamins?

Knowledge is power and the more you know about vitamins, their benefits and their safe consumption, the wiser and healthier you’ll be.

All eight of the B vitamins, the energy vitamins, are important in helping the body convert food into fuel. B vitamins also help fight infection and disease. It’s also important to note that excessive consumption can be unhealthy.

In this blog post, we are going to educate on vitamin B6, also called pyridoxine. It plays a part in such major functions including movement, memory and blood flow. Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin meaning is dissolves in water so the body cannot store it. Leftovers leave the body through urine.

Adults ages 19 to 50 need 1.3 milligrams of vitamin B6 daily, while older senior women need 1.5 milligrams and senior men need 1.7 milligrams.1 The recommended supplemental, tolerable upper intake level is 100 mg (5,000% DV).2

Benefits of vitamin B6

  • Maintains normal nerve function
  • Supports a healthy gut
  • Balances healthy levels of blood sugar
  • Aids in the function of enzymes and protein metabolism

Deficiencies of vitamin B6

Not enough vitamin B6 intake may be linked to depression, and can also cause anemia. A lack of vitamin B6 can cause confusion, nausea, susceptibility to infections and skin rashes.

Be careful not to overdo it

According to the federal government, you should not take more than 100 milligrams of vitamin B6 a day (the upper tolerable limit), in supplement form. However, high intakes of vitamin B6 from food is safe.

Taking too much vitamin B6 in supplement form can cause nerve damage, sensitivity to the sun, painful skin lesions and nausea and heartburn. Taking vitamin B6 can also interfere with several types of medications.1

GoYin, Daily Build, 360 Compete Shake, Metabolic ONE, GPS Rebuild, GPS Energize, GPS Hydrate, ENERGY and PURE Café all contain B vitamins, including B6. If you took the recommended servings of these products, which is 2 times a day, your vitamin B6 intake would be approximately 90 mg.

However, if you were to take more than the suggested serving, approximately 3-4 times a day, you would be surpassing the safe limit.

Following the recommended serving of every supplement is very important, as you want to be careful not to go significantly above the recommended allowance. Every product pack contains a Daily Usage Guide that offers suggested product use throughout the day for optimal benefits. Be sure to read the product labels or learn more about each product and its recommended use at livepure.com.

Getting to know Rich Scheckenbach

We recently talked with our newest member of the PURE Wellness Advisory Board (WAB), Rich Scheckenbach, who has a client base of dietary supplement, food and beverage, and nutritional ingredient companies worldwide.

Where do you and your family reside? I have called the Northwest home since 1972 and my wife and I currently reside in SW Washington state. We have family throughout the world.

When did you know you wanted to study nutritional sciences? My interest in nutrition has always been front and center as I was fortunate to grow up in a house that valued healthy food choices. Mom was a huge advocate of the Mediterranean diet, Dad was adventurous in always adding new “health foods” to his diet (such as whole grains, raw wheat germ, exotic fruits and vegetables) as far back as the mid-1950s. I was given my first dietary supplement in 1955 and have since never missed a day taking them. Studying bacteriology and biochemistry as an undergraduate at UCLA was the pivotal moment for my decision to better understand and pursue the underlying principles of proper nutrition.

What do you think is the most important point to remember in nutrition? The most important aspect of good nutrition is understanding that balance in what we consume is paramount. Without all of the essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fats, and phytonutrients being consumed on a regular basis we cannot perform at our optimum level — physically, mentally, or emotionally. There isn’t any single “silver bullet” nutrient or food that will ensure optimum health.

What is your proudest career accomplishment? There is no single accomplishment that stands out for me in my forty-year career in the nutritional science/natural products field. I truly have been blessed to be able to positively impact the health and performance of millions of individuals worldwide through the formulations and products that I have created. For this, I owe a great debt of gratitude to my parents, my wife, my past professors, my colleagues in many health-related fields, and a cadre of devoted scientific researchers whose studies have provided an ever-growing understanding of biochemistry, physiology, and nutrition.

What do you love about your career? Helping people achieve their goals whether those are weight management, improved sports performance, increased vitality, enhanced well-being, and so forth. When individuals learn that they can be in control of most of their health-related issues, it is often a huge revelation and always very empowering.

What attracted you to PURE and influenced your decision to accept an appointment to the WAB? Three things attracted me to PURE – 1) Daren Hogge, (for whom I have the very highest regard), and his fine corporate team; 2) the PURE field leadership, which is comprised of some of the most devoted and caring individuals that I’ve met; and 3) the very dedicated philosophy of bringing to market the best products that science and nature can provide.

What is your favorite product by PURE? I don’t play favorites so I truly can’t answer that directly. I will say, however, that GPS Rebuild is a product that I will never be without. Once you understand the huge significance of muscle physiology on health and the importance of feeding muscle during its post-activity recovery phase, you are likely to agree that this is an “impact” product.

Give us a peek inside your refrigerator or cupboard. What are your mainstays? There are so many! Fruits and vegetables, fish, and meats, in general. Specifically, blueberries, salmon, Mila, pomegranate juice, protein powder, potato chips (hey, we’re all entitled to a vice or two), supplements!, beef, chicken, tuna, olives, and green salad ingredients.

Do you have a favorite quote? Two of them actually. Interestingly, both seem particularly relevant to those involved in network marketing.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” — Henry David Thoreau

“Believe that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.  Believe that you may be light for someone else.” — Kobi Yamada
