Ask the Expert answers your product questions

At PURE: People United Reaching Everyone, we have an expert team that is dedicated to answering your product and nutrition questions.

Here are the most popular questions from the previous few weeks. You might find a topic related to a question you have.

Q: Can PURE Perk be taken once a day, every day and for an extended time?
A: We recommend taking it once a day but it can safely be taken up to twice a day. The second serving should be taken four hours after the first serving, as the label suggests. Do not take the product within four hours before bedtime, and do not exceed two servings per day.

Q: How many times a day can you take GPS Circulate?
A: It can be taken 30 minutes before exercise. If desired, it may be taken at bedtime with GPS Reset. For the average, healthy person, we do not recommend more than two servings a day. For an athlete who heavily trains, three times a day would be fine as well. Higher amounts of L-arginine and L-citrulline might cause osmotic diarrhea. Taken at separate times throughout the day would negate this effect. GPS Circulate contains vitamins and amino acids. L-arginine is an amino acid used to improve athletic capacity, muscle growth, sexual performance and cardiovascular function. It also stimulates the immune system.*

Q: Can I take products by PURE together or must I use them individually? Which products are compatible, and which are not?
A: Many of products by PURE can be taken together. We do not suggest taking products containing caffeine together, or before bed time.  You can find recommended use on each label and online to identify which products are recommended at what time throughout the day and with/without food.

Q: What is the  difference between Organic Sulfur and the sulfur that causes some people an allergic reaction?
A: Sulfur is one of the most abundant elements in the human body and is essential to life. Sulfur is found in many foods that we eat, including fish, poultry, eggs, milk, onions, garlic and cabbage. When people say they are allergic to sulfur, they mean that they’re either sensitive to sulfites, which are preservatives found in red wines and some foods, or that they are allergic to sulfonamides, found in sulfa antibiotic drugs. Sulfites and sulfonamides, even though they sound like sulfur, are very different and have unrelated mechanisms of action. It is safe to use MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), the only ingredient in Organic Sulfur. This chemical is in animals, humans and many plants. When a person says they have a sulfa allergy or sulfite sensitivity.

Q: We noticed a change in taste to the Liquid Cleanse. Was there a formula change?
A: The herbs used in Cleanse are from naturally growing plants. The herbs may be harvested during different seasons and may come from different areas. These can cause a variation in taste. The formula has not changed.

Q: Can products by PURE cause a false positive on a 10-panel drug test?
A: Absolutely not. Our weight loss products do not contain ingredients that would cause false positive results on drug tests. Our GPS line of products (GPS Hydrate, GPS Energize, GPS Circulate, GPS Rebuild and GPS Reset) have been tested and are Informed-Sport Certified.

Target joint health with PURE

Imagine for a second that we don’t have cartilage between our bones. Painful, right? Your bones sure wouldn’t last long from rubbing together every time you walked, bent, reached, sat, stretched, jumped, etc. The joints do a lot for our body, but it’s easy to take them for granted. We move about every day without giving them a second thought. Are you doing all you can to care for them?

Our every move is possible because of our joints; both movable and rigid. Movable joints, called synovial joints, are found in our knees, hips and shoulders. Slightly movable joints, called cartilaginous joints, are found in our spine and ribs. Rigid or immovable joints, called fibrous joints, are found in our skull. Joints lie between bones with cartilage where the bones come together, facilitating smooth movement. 1

Exercise and a healthy diet are two of the most important things you can do to keep your joints healthy. Exercising regularly helps keep the muscles around your joints strong. Children and teenagers should get 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day.2 When exercising or playing sports, wear protection to avoid joint injury. Watch what you eat. Excess weight on the body can put pressure on joints. Eating a balanced diet is key.

Joint facts:

  • Do you ever feel joint pain before a thunderstorm? Joints contain sensory nerves called “baro-receptors” that react to atmospheric changes in the barometric pressure. 3 Didn’t know you were a weatherman, did you?
  • Babies are born with a cartilage plate that turns to bone and then into a kneecap somewhere between the ages of 3 and 5. 3
  • Cartilage is up to 80 percent water by weight. 4
  • Because cartilage is filled with negatively charged chondroitin molecules, it resists being pushed together. This gives it its incredible cushioning power!4

Stay loose and limber with products by PURE

Mila, Organic Sulfur, Daily Build and Mangosteen all help support joint health and, therefore, are an important part of your daily regimen.

  • Mila contains calcium and is a good source of magnesium and phosphorous, both important nutrients for bone health. It also contains 3 grams of ALA omega-3 fatty acid which plays a crucial role in normal growth and development.* Enjoy Mila sprinkled on cereal, smoothies and ice cream. Bake and cook with this versatile ingredient!
  • Organic Sulfur contains MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), a dietary form of sulfur, that helps make collagen, the supportive protein of tendons, cartilage, connective tissue and bone. So, it may help improve flexibility and mobility by promoting joint function and health.* It’s important to note that the body cannot make sulfur on its own; it must be obtained from a variety of foods or through supplementation.
  • Daily Build is a comprehensive multivitamin that benefits the whole body with 23 essential vitamins and minerals, vegetable extracts, antioxidants, phytonutrients, amino acids, trace minerals, neuro-protectors, cell defenders, and a host of other body-beneficial ingredients to support immune, nervous system, cardiovascular health and more.*
  • Mangosteen contains xanthones, powerful phytonutrients, that may support healthy joint function, among other things.*

Add these four products by PURE to your daily regimen today and feel the difference.

Ask the Expert answers your questions

At PURE: People United Reaching Everyone, we have an expert team that is dedicated to answering your product and nutrition questions.

Here are the most popular questions from the previous few weeks. You might find a topic related to a question you have.

Q: How long will a PURE Enrollment Pack last?
A: Enrollment packs come in two sizes. The bigger packs contain almost all the products and the small packs also have a large variety. The enrollment packs are designed for people to who want to build their business and to help people become familiar with the products.  It is hard to tell how long the products in a pack will last.  Most of the products are a monthly supply and some of the products are about half of a month’s supply.  Some people choose to not take all of the products together.  Others may choose to share the products. Generally, we expect people will finish most of the products within 6 months.

Q: Are any of your products recommended for someone who wants to gain weight?
A: To increase weight, one should take a good nutritional supplement that has essential vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Q: What products should I take while I’m on a ketogenic diet?
A: We suggest taking 360 Complete Shake as a source of high protein, vitamins and minerals. It contains 21g protein, 11g fiber and low (50g) carbohydrates per serving.

A: ENERGY – Watermelon contains strawberry.

Q: Can SleepTrim and CalciuMK+ be taken at the same time since they both benefit sleep?
A: Yes, these products can be taken together. However, they have different mechanisms of working in the body. For best results, we suggest taking SleepTrim with dinner and CalciuMK+ after dinner.

Q: What products should be taken after the 28-Day Detox?
A: We suggest taking Daily Build, GoYin, CalciuMK+, Probiotic and Immune6. These products are basic supplements for daily use. You may take the superfruits, Organic Sulfur, Mila and the GPS line for your more targeted health needs.

Target muscles – your strong point

When I was a youngster, I used to flex my arm to show off what muscle I had. My biceps are still almost non-existent, but regardless of how big or small, our muscles are heavy lifters.

From dancing and snapping our fingers, to writing a letter, to carrying a child in our arms, our muscles have a big responsibility. They keep our hearts beating, they prevent our joints from dislocating and they even make the hair on our arms stand up when we’re cold. Now that I’m much older, I appreciate the importance of keeping my muscles strong to protect my bones as I age.

Did you know?

  • There are three types of muscle in the body: smooth, cardiac and skeletal.1
  • Strength training puts stress on bones which encourages bone-forming cell growth.2
  • Strong core (abdominal) muscles make it easier to do most physical activities.3
  • The jaw is the strongest muscle in the body.4
  • The smallest muscle in your body is in your ear.5
  • The largest muscle is the Gluteus Maximus, otherwise known as our buttocks. It’s responsible for the extension and rotation of the hip. 5

PURE has a variety of products to help target muscle health.

CalciuMK+ provides calcium, magnesium and vitamin K2 plus vitamins D, A, C and E and over 70 beneficial trace minerals. These work together to promote healthy muscle contractions, as well as build strong bones and teeth, support heart function and promote restful sleep.*

Organic Sulfur helps in the production of collagen which is the main supportive protein of tendons, cartilage, connective tissue and bone. Cartilage helps keep muscles and joints moving.*

GPS Rebuild and GPS Reset support muscle healing and growth after exercise; GPS Circulate delivers nutrients and oxygen to muscles before exercise and GPS Hydrate replenishes vital fluids, electrolytes and nutrients.*

Other ways to keep your muscles in great shape is to rest, stretch, get massages and drink plenty of water. You’ll feel great and your muscles will be less prone to injury.

Meet IBO Cozy Bixler

Cozy Bixler is a single mom of four children, ages 7-16. Since losing her late husband to cancer ten years ago, Cozy understands the importance of Whole Health for her family. She taught Pilates during the day and always prayed for a way to generate an extra income stream while also being available for her children.

In August 2018, Cozy enrolled with PURE’s 1500 pack and got busy sharing the products with others. She plugged in to the system offered by her upline, attended all PURE events, watched every training video, and consistently dialed into weekly training calls. Her diligence and hard work paid off. She earned the rank of Platinum Director in her first week, and the prestigious rank of Diamond in her fifth week!

Cozy loves every aspect of this business, and gets her family involved as well. She makes sure her children see both the health and financial benefits that PURE provides.

“The cleanse/balance/build/focus system through PURE has helped my family with focus issues, sleep issues and more,” said Cozy. “My favorite product is Organic Sulfur because of its amazing health benefits.”*

Cozy has earned several PURE Destinations trips, two of which her children attended with her. Along with these blessings, Cozy feels grateful for the new relationships she has made at PURE. She believes she could not have had the success she’s had without the help, guidance and encouragement from her team leaders and fellow IBOs.

Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Walk your way to better health

The simple act of walking is one of my favorite ways to get exercise and enjoy the great outdoors. I love springtime when those first warm days come about. The air is fresh and inviting. Fall is also a great time to get out and inhale the crisp, cool air and hear the crunch of leaves underneath.

Today is National Walk to Work Day. If you’re fortunate to live close enough to work, why not give your car a break and walk to work. Or, bring your sneakers to work and spend your lunch hour walking the neighborhood. Walking is one of the most popular activities among adults in the United States. You can do it practically anywhere, in any season and the health benefits are plenty.

Shuffle, strut, mosey — however you do it, it’s good for your body!

Walking just three times a week, 30 minutes a walk, can improve your fitness level tremendously. Walking also improves physical function and strengthens your heart. It’s good for your brain, your bones and your mood. And, if you’re walking outside, you can get a beneficial dose of vitamin D from the sun.

Before you head out, take a minute to stretch your muscles. Stretching increases your range of motion and protects your muscles from injury. The five stretches that are the easiest and most self-explanatory are, 1) calf stretch, 2) side stretch, 3) torso twist, 4) quadriceps (thigh) stretch, and 5) hamstring (back of legs) stretch. Do them slowly and hold the stretch until your muscles loosen up.

Stay hydrated during your walks with GPS Hydrate, a supplement that replenishes vital fluids, electrolytes, and nutrients lost during exercise. It also quenches thirst by supporting rehydration of the body and includes a blend of amino acids, carbohydrates and B vitamins. Check out the entire GPS product line that can help you navigate to your peak performance.

Organic Sulfur, or MSM, helps support collagen production which is the supportive protein tendons, cartilage, connective tissue and bone. Organic Sulfur may improve flexibility and mobility by promoting joint function and health. It also may help alleviate discomfort that may follow challenging exercise.*

Ways to incorporate more walking into your routine

  1. Instead of having your food delivered, pick it up by foot, if the restaurant is nearby.
  2. Park your car further from the store and walk.
  3. Get off the bus before your destination and walk that extra mile.
  4. Join a charity walk in your neighborhood and fundraise for a cause you care about.
  5. Invest in a treadmill that you can use at night or on rainy days.
  6. Walk the mall, and people watch if that’s your thing.
  7. Instead of sitting a child’s sports practice, get up and walk laps around the gym
  8. Purchase a wearable activity device to track your steps.

As a writer, my job is sedentary which is not healthy. Every day, I set a timer on my phone that reminds me every hour to get up from my seat and walk around the building, at least once. Not only does this wake me up, but it clears my mind and motivates me to make it through the day.

How do you, or will you, incorporate more walking into your week?

Ingredient Spotlight: MSM

When you hear the word sulfur, you might think of a yellow substance, the smell of rotten eggs or a hot spring. That distinctive smell is from sulfur, or sulfur dioxide, a form of sulfur often used in metallurgy, rubber vulcanization, and petroleum refining. It is toxic to the body.

Methyl-sulfonyl-methane (MSM), on the other hand, is an organic form of sulfur that can be safely digested and absorbed by the body. It is stored in the muscles, skin, bones, nails and hair; however, our body cannot make it. We must get it from food (found naturally in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, meat, poultry, and eggs), or supplements.

MSM is an organic, food-grade sulfur found in all plant and animal tissues. It is white and odorless. It is both a mineral and an element found naturally in the protein of plants, animals and humans. It is necessary for many important functions in the body.*

Organic Sulfur by PURE

Our supplement consists of 99.9% pure distilled MSM sourced in North America, has no added fillers, binders, excipients, artificial ingredients, or flow agents. It is non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.

“Research shows that Organic Sulfur can help balance inflammatory mediators in the body. When there is imbalance, we are going to have issues,” said Darin Blackhurst, PURE Director of Research and Development and Quality. “Clinical studies show that we are using the right amount in our product, 6 grams a day. The people in the study who took the product actually had an improvement in joint mobility and flexibility.”3

Benefits of MSM:

  • Improves flexibility and mobility by promoting joint function and health.*
  • Can alleviate discomfort that may follow challenging exercise sessions.*
  • Assists with the elimination of cell-damaging free radicals in the body.*
  • Helps promote healthy skin, hair, and nails.*

Ways to take Organic Sulfur

Organic Sulfur is available in both capsule and powder form. Some people may have trouble stomaching the bitter taste of the powder. To make it more palatable, you may want to mix it with GPS Hydrate,  GoYin or even coffee. Or, add a light juice or sweetener to offset the bitterness. The more water you add, the less bitter the taste. Take three capsules twice daily, preferably in the morning and the evening, on an empty stomach; or mix one level teaspoon into warm water or drink of your choice to dissolve crystals and consume.

Is organic sulfur an ingredient in sulfa pharmaceutical drugs?

No. Organic sulfur is a nutrient, a necessary part of natural chemical processes in the body. Sulfa based drugs or sulfites are forms of inorganic sulfur. Sulfa drugs are synthetic; they do not occur naturally. They are used as antibiotics, which in some people cause allergic reactions.3

Meet Lynn and Sherry Pippen, PURE IBOs

Lynn and Sherry Pippen joined PURE in 2015 after Lynn was approached by a dear friend whom he had served with in the military.

Lynn is a Platinum Director with PURE and a retired U.S. Army Colonel. Sherry is a general dentist and owner of Oak Lane Family Dental Clinic in Mississippi.

The Pippen’s weren’t interested in taking on another business venture, but they saw value in the PURE business. They chose to invest in the company should they decide later to pursue a business.

Physical fitness has always been a big part of their lives. Lynn maintained a high level of physical activity during his tenure in the Army and continued this into his retirement and second career.  However, he had compounded problems with his shoulder, back and knees due to various athletic- and service-related injuries. With the advice of his orthopedic physician, he gave up his love for long-distance running.

Lynn shared his health issues with his new PURE family who then shared the products with him. Lynn started taking the products and subsequently changed his lifestyle. He was able to return to jogging after being told that he would never run again. He beat the odds and ended up competing in eight half marathons and two half ironman triathlons.

Sherry and Lynn have both seen spikes in their energy levels. They “turned back the clock” in many ways. With their confidence in products by PURE, they began sharing them with others, through they were not yet consistent with building their business. They came to value and admire the leadership in their upline who encouraged them to attend a PURE event in Dallas, Texas in October 2017.  After meeting the leaders face-to-face and experiencing the sheer “class” of the company, they decided to get serious about their PURE business.

Lynn says, “Our story isn’t a fast-paced, knock-your-socks-off story of growth straight to the top, but Sherry and I love and believe in PURE.  Our advice to IBOs is to remember the value in what PURE offers and to be resilient in the quest for your business goals.  Latch on to your leadership team and allow them to guide you to victory.  Many say that we’re in the health and wellness industry, but Sherry and I would argue that we’re in the business of improving lives.  As long as that continues to be our goal, rank advancements will come. Above all, our prayer is that people will see us as a light for our savior, Jesus Christ, and a beacon of hope for their health and financial needs.  PURE offers us a chance to share compassion with the masses as we’ve never had before.”

Lynn’s favorite products are GoYin and Organic Sulfur; Sherry likes Metabolic ONE.

Meet Mark Kobe, PURE IBO and U.S. Army veteran

The transition from military to civilian life can be difficult, but for Mark Kobe, Independent Business Owner (IBO), the PURE products and opportunity made the transition that much easier.

Mark served in the U.S. Army from 1995-2015, stationed in New York, North Carolina and Maryland, as a Signals Intelligence professional and Spanish linguist. He received the Air Medal and other medals for deployments to Afghanistan, Africa, Bosnia and South America.

Mark is most proud of the time he served with a Special Missions Unit in Maryland. He was one of less than 1% of the total military who was accepted into this unit.

Mark stated, “I had the opportunity to take part in historic missions and work with some true heroes. The places that I got to see, the missions that I was a part of and most importantly the quality of the people that I got to work with will always stay with me as the best time in my military career.”

After retiring, he was employed under the Secretary of Defense. He discovered PURE: People United Reaching Everyone in August 2018.

PURE gave Mark and his wife a vehicle through which they could reach their financial goals and generate residual income for their future. After retiring from the military after a full 20-year career, Mark was starting from scratch at the age of 46. He wanted to add another stream of income to his pension and disability.

“PURE is providing for us, as long as I am willing to put in the time and effort.  As I struggle to understand how to be successful in this line of work, I find that I’m constantly reading books,” said Mark. “I have improved my personal relationship with Christ as I spend hours reading the Bible and have put my PURE business in his hands to support us. Daily Detox and Mila are my wife’s favorite products. My favorite is Organic Sulfur. I have full range of motion in my knees for the first time in a long time and I’m no longer taking glucosamine.”*

Mark decided to forgo his usual workout supplement regime to try PURE’s GPS line of products. After using all six products for three months, Mark noticed results, as did his friends and family whom he exercises with.

Mark stated, “The pre-workout combination of Adapt, Energize and Circulate is unlike any other pre-workout regimen that I have ever used. I don’t get the “shakes” that I would typically get with most pre-workout supplements. GPS Hydrate keeps my energy level high throughout my workout. GPS Rebuild post-workout supplement is awesome; the taste, the mixability, everything is top notch! With Reset, the cycle is complete. The energy it provides is amazing!”*

Mark is a true hero in our eyes. He is living the PURE philosophy by sharing the opportunity and the wonderful benefits of our high-quality products with others. We are blessed to have him as part of the PURE family.
